Weekly sports update 10/2-10/7

Football (Kellie Foy)

The varsity team lost to Wheaton Warrenville South on Friday, losing 44-0. The football unit plays at Glenbard North for its eighth game of the season.

Girls’ Golf (Kellie Foy)

The girls’ golf team had the IHSA Regionals tournament last Wednesday at Orchard Valley. The top three scorers for the team were Madison Neihardt with a 99, Yunwei Liang with a 94, and Alyssa Pellegrini with a 93.

Girls Volleyball (Kellie Foy)

The varsity girls’ volleyball team beat Wheaton North last Tuesday, winning 2-1. All of the other levels also beat Wheaton North as well. The varsity team beat rival Waubonsie on Thursday, winning 2-1. The freshman A, freshman B, and sophomore teams beat Waubonsie as well. The JV team lost to Waubonsie, losing 0-2. The girls play at home against Lake Park on Tuesday, and at Wheaton Warrenville South on Thursday.

Girls’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

The varsity team placed eleventh overall at the Naperville Twilight Invitational, with Terri Scarlet, Kate Jordan and Keely Weber coming in 51th, 53rd, and 54th respectively. Next Saturday, the team will compete at the DuPage Valley Conference. Good luck to all runners!

Boys’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

The boys varsity team came in 15th overall on Wednesday at Naperville North. Matthew Corso and Michael Sakowicz lead the team at times of 16:44.00 and 16:46.30. On Saturday, the team hopes to improve at the DuPage Valley Conference and advance further. Good Luck!

Girls’ Swim (Myra Bajwa)

Last week was a busy week for the swim team! Last Thursday, girls’ swim and dive performed strongly against Wheaton. JV also hosted their annual Mustang Invite on Saturday. That same day, the divers competed at the Titan Dive Invite at Glenbrook South. Next week, the team faces off against Lake Park on Thursday at Metea.

Boys’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)

The boys celebrated Senior Night last Thursday with a 5-1 win over Wheaton Warrenville South. Saturday saw the varsity team at the Warstang Invite, where the Mustangs took home first place with a 4-0 final victory against Waubonsie, with junior Evan Lang scoring all four goals. They spent their weekend, yet again, giving back to the community by volunteering at Hesed House in Aurora.

Boys’ Golf (Tyler Burleyson)

The boys’ golf team drove hard into the IHSA Sectionals tournament yesterday, finishing sixth overall. Lead by their five seniors, the Sectionals squad hit a combined 315. junior Scott Boyajian placed fifth overall with a 71. Boyajian is the fourth athlete in program history to qualify for the IHSA State tournament.

Girls’ Tennis (Tyler Burleyson)

The girls’ tennis team had its DuPage Valley Conference tournament this weekend which was split up at home and at Waubonsie Valley. The girls were able to compete for third place and for the Championships titles at the tournament.
