Weekly Sports Update 10/9-10/14

Football (Kellie Foy)

The sophomore team lost to Glenbard North on Friday, losing 32-6. The varsity team lost to Glenbard North, losing 42-0. The boys have their last game of the season at Rock Island this week.

Girls Volleyball (Kellie Foy)

The varsity girls’ volleyball team has had an exciting week as they became DVC Champs on Thursday. The girls conference record is currently 7-0 as they beat Lake Park on Tuesday and Wheaton Warrenville South on Thursday. All other levels beat Lake Park and Wheaton Warrenville South as well. The volleyball unit plays at Glenbard North on Tuesday and are at home on Thursday for Senior Night against St. Charles East.

Girls’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

This week is a busy week for the girls’ cross country team. This Monday, they will compete at the DuPage Valley Conference meet and run at the IHSA Sectionals tournament on Saturday. Good luck to the team as they finish off their season.

Boys’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

The DVC meet at St.James Farm was postponed until Monday, Oct. 16 due to the excessive rain this past weekend. On Saturday, the boys will compete at the IHSA Sectionals meet. Good luck at Conference and Sectionals.

Girls’ Swim (Myra Bajwa)

Last Thursday, girls’ swim and dive competed against Lake Park. The swimmers have a packed week, swimming against Glenbard North on Thursday, and hosting the Varsity Mustang invite on Saturday and Sunday.

Boys’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)

The team started off their week by volunteering time at the Hesed House Homeless Shelter moving furniture. Junior Varsity won against West Aurora 3-0 in their final game of the season. Varsity ended their regular season with a 1-1 draw against West Aurora on Tuesday, and are looking forward to playoffs.

Boys’ Golf (Tyler Burleyson)

Monday was the Sectionals tournament for the several mustangs who competed. The team finished in sixth place with a 315. Junior Scott Boyajian moved on to IHSA State with his 5th overall finish at Sectionals. Boyajian finished in the top 20 individuals at the state tournament, the best finish in Metea Valley’s history.

Girls’ Tennis (Tyler Burleyson)

The mustang tennis players placed third at the DVC conference tournament last week. They followed that up with stellar performances at the Sectionals tournament, and are sending the freshman doubles team of Meera Bade and Natalia Kochkodan to the IHSA State tournament.
