Weekly Sports update 10/23-10/29

Girls Volleyball (Kellie Foy)

The girls’ varsity volleyball had an exciting week this week with the start of the the IHSA Regionals tournament. The girls started off the week with a win against Joliet West on Tuesday, winning in two sets. The girls then took on rival Naperville North on Thursday. Unfortunately, the girls lost a tough game against the Huskies, losing in three sets. The team wrapped up the season on Thursday, being DVC Champions and with an overall record of 29-8.

Girls’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

The girls’ team placed ninth overall at the IHSA Sectionals meet on Saturday. Terri Scarlett, Keely Weber, and Megan Fichte lead the team at 29th, 43rd, and 48th place respectively. The team will compete at IHSA State Finals this Saturday, Nov.4.

Boys’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

Ralph Papa and Rokas Gudinavicius ran at IHSA Sectionals on Saturday. Papa ran a time of 16:28.1 and Gudinavicius ran a 17:20.7.

Girls’ Swim (Myra Bajwa)

The girls’ swim competed at the DuPage Valley Conference Championships on Saturday. McKenna Stone placed first in the 50 freestyle and set a new DVC record. The varsity 400 freestyle relay and medley relay both placed second. In diving, Maddie Satinover placed third in freshman diving.

Boys’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)

The boys’ soccer team had the IHSA Sectional Semifinals against rival Naperville North last Tuesday evening. The boys ended their season to Naperville North, losing 2-0 in the game.
