Weekly Sports Update 1/15-1/21

Girls’ Basketball (Kellie Foy)

The freshman A and B team beat Naperville Central on Thursday. The varsity team lost to Naperville Central on Thursday, losing 40-51. Varsity also lost to Wheaton North over the weekend, losing 33-52. The teams play at Plainfield East on Tuesday, at Waubonsie on Thursday, and at Lake Park on Saturday.

Boys’ Basketball (Kellie Foy)

The varsity team beat Glenbard North on Friday night, winning 82-63. Holden Rank led the team with 29 points in the game. The teams play at Neuqua on Tuesday and at Naperville North on Friday.

Special Olympics (Kellie Foy)

The traditional teams won on Wednesday but lost both games in their tournament while the unified team lost on Wednesday. The Special Olympics program has its annual Pack the Stands game on Wednesday night at 6 pm in the main gym.

Dance (Kellie Foy)

The dance team performed at the Geneva Sectional competition and fell short of qualifying for the State competition with a score of 81.83 points.

Girls’ Gymnastics (Myra Bajwa)

The gymnastics team had its senior night on Thursday against Naperville Central. Both JV and varsity beat Naperville Central, with varsity getting a new season high of 129.95 to edge out Naperville’s 128.05. Melissa Martin also earned the top all-around score at the meet.

Bowling (Myra Bajwa)

Ian Ridgeway scored a perfect game at Regionals and advanced to IHSA Sectionals. Chris Mickolayck also competed at sectionals and missed the cut by only 70 points. Ian Ridgeway is the first Metea and IPSD boy bowler to advance to State. The girls’ team competed at DVC on Thursday and traveled to the Minooka invite on Saturday.

Hockey (Myra Bajwa)

Varsity beat Lake Park on Saturday, winning 13-2. Varsity also played against Maine on Sunday. This week, Varsity plays against Naperville Central on Thursday and both teams face off against Neuqua next Sunday.
