Weekly Sports Update 2/10-2/18

Girls’ Basketball (Kellie Foy)

The varsity team ended its season on Monday with a loss against Lockport in the Regional quarterfinal, losing 35-22.

Boys’ Basketball (Kellie Foy)

The sophomore and varsity teams beat Wheaton-Warrenville South on Tuesday at home. The varsity team celebrated Senior Night with an exciting win over Glenbard North on Friday, winning 83-41. The varsity team also beat Lake Park on Saturday, winning 52-42. The basketball unit be playing at South Elgin on Friday for its last game of the regular season.

Special Olympics (Kellie Foy)

The basketball teams played at the IHSA tournament on Saturday and are advancing to the IHSA State tournament. The State tournament will be taking place St. Patrick’s day weekend.

Hockey (Myra Bajwa)

Varsity played against Lyons on Thursday and Friday, winning 5-4 on Thursday and 5-3 on Friday. They are now moving on to the next round of playoffs to the Scholastic Cup. On Sunday, JV played against Lincolnway.

Wrestling (Tyler Burleyson)

The wrestling team competed at the IHSA State tournament last weekend. Junior Phillip Sims placed sixth in the 138 lbs. weight division after advancing to semifinals off of a 4-2 victory.

Boys’ Swim and Dive (Tyler Burleyson)

Senior Alec Marquardt qualified for IHSA State in diving during the IHSA Sectionals meet last Saturday. State qualifiers on swim include seniors Ben Forbes, Janssen Gamilla, Michael Chan, Griffin Despot, junior Sam Kastan, and freshman Jeddrick Gamilla. Events include 100 back, 100 fly, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, and 50 free.

Indoor Track (Tyler Burleyson)

Last Saturday, the team ran at an indoor meet at Proviso East. Senior Charlie Schaefer won the 600 meter and set a new school record in the process.
