Weekly Sports Update 10/8-10/13

Boys’ Cross Country (Leland Pan)

The varsity team ran at the Dupage Valley Conference at Waubonsie Valley High School last week on Saturday. Michael Varzino finished 37th and Justin Ficthe finished 38th, leading the Mustangs at the meet. The team heads to regionals on Saturday at Oswego East High School.

Girls’ Cross Country (Madison McCalley)

Last week, the girls ran at the DVC Conference held at Waubonsie on Saturday. The team placed in third and freshman Keeley Behr lead the team finishing in 16th.

Football (Nate Burleyson)

The varsity team lost to Neuqua Valley, 41-14 last Friday. This week they conclude their season against Waubonsie at home.

Boys’ Golf (Leland Pan)

The Mustangs played at Sectionals on Monday and had a total score of 329. Scott Boyajian led with an individual score of 76. On Saturday, the team sent Scott Boyajian to the IHSA State tournament, in Bloomington at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Club. With snow during Friday’s round, scores were canceled and resumed the following day. Scott Boyajian ended his round with a total score of 74. He placed 13th overall.

Hockey (Nate Burleyson)

The Hockey team played Naperville North on Friday, winning 4-1. They play Oak Park River-Forest and Lyons Township this weekend.

Boys’ Soccer (Nate Burleyson)

The varsity team played Naperville North last Tuesday, losing a tight 1-0 game. They face Plainfield North at the Plainfield North Regional tomorrow. With a win, they will play the regional championship on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Girls’ Swim and Dive (Madison McCalley)

During senior night last Thursday, McKenna Stone broke the pool and school record in the 50 free with 23.21 seconds. On Sunday, the team participated in a relay meet taking first overall.

Girls’ Tennis (Leland Pan)

Sectionals were hosted at Naperville North over the weekend. Abbey Woods and Taylor Goldman placed third for doubles and Meera Baid placed third for singles. The three girls head to IHSA State Tournament next weekend.  

Girls’ Volleyball (Madison McCalley)

This past week, varsity played a home game against Geneva on Wednesday. The girls fell in 3 sets after a well-played game. On Thursday, varsity fell in 2 sets in a match against Naperville North. Varsity has two games next week. The girls play at home against Neuqua on Tuesday and they play at Waubonsie on Thursday.
