Weekly Sports Update: 9/26 – 9/30

Boys’ Football By Kellie Foy
The sophomore team won its first game of the season against Lake Park this past week. The Varsity team also won against the Lake Park Lancers, 27-19, bringing its record to 2-4. The Mustangs will take on Wheaton Warrenville South this upcoming week for their homecoming game at home.

Boys’ Soccer By Connor Smith
This week, Varsity lost to both Waubonsie and Lake Park, with the score being 0-1 and 2-3 respectively. Although both games resulted in a loss, strong performances were seen from goalkeeper Kevin Branch and the defense. JV1 had two wins this week, defeating both Waubonsie and Lake Park 1-0, with both of the shutouts coming from goalkeeper David Brancato. JV2 also had a successful week, winning 2-0 at Lake Park on Wednesday with a shutout from goalkeeper Ryan Heger, as well as goals coming from Connor Birch and Jorge Diaz. Finally, while Freshman may have lost 2-4 to East Aurora on Thursday, they clinched a 2-1 win against Lake Park at home this past Tuesday. Goals came from both Dylan Carpenter and Matthew Dovalovsky.

Girls’ Tennis By Trinity Powell
On Tuesday both the Varsity and JV teams beat Glenbard North. This week, they’re playing Rosary (Varsity at home and JV away), and on Tuesday, they’re playing West Aurora (varsity away and JV at home). Conference comes up this Friday, and a win would mean the team advances to sectionals.

Girls’ Volleyball By Sameen Ali
Girls’ Volleyball started the week off with a win against Naperville Central in their home game on Tuesday. The sophomore girls came on top with a three set win, moving to 3-0 in conference. Varsity won their game as well, defeating Central 25-14 and 25-13 and moving to 2-1 in conference. The girls have their next match against Wheaton North on Tuesday, and are playing at home once again.

Boys’ Golf By Brianna Powell
This past week, the boys’ golf team went to the DuPage Valley Conference tournament. Sophomore Scott Boyajian led the Mustangs, shooting a 78. The boys also took the championship title at the 2016 Ryder Cup. This week, they compete at the IHSA regionals.

Girls’ Golf By Brianna Powell
The girls’ golf team also went to the DuPage Valley Conference tournament last week in Bartlett Hills, finishing eighth. This upcoming week, the girls will compete in IHSA regionals tournament.
