Saying goodbye to fall sports

As the beginning quarter of the school year comes to an end, and fall turns to winter, we  say goodbye to all the fall sports and events that have entertained and motivated us and transition into the winter sports.

With friday night lights being one of the most memorable moments for most students, it might be the hardest to let go of. “I’m very sad, especially because I’m a senior, and there’s nothing like a high school football game,” senior Megan Archey said. The aura of the student section and the spirit that it brings to the school will definitely be missed. Many of the other fall sports such as girls’ volleyball, cross country, boys’ soccer, girls’ tennis, girls’ swim, and golf, will also be greatly missed. However, it will also be replaced by the roaring crowds at the basketball, hockey or any other games as we cheer on our winter teams.

So while we do prepare for the loss of fall sports, we also have to prepare for the excitement of the upcoming winter sports, including basketball, wrestling, hockey, girls’ bowling, boys’ swim, and dive. The anticipation of how our Mustangs will perform in the upcoming season continues to rise and bring joy to those who can finally get back into their teams.

But before all of the excitement that winter sports bring take over the minds of the fans, the final games of the fall seasons need to be played. And most importantly, some teams still need to take on their playoff seasons, especially the girls’ volleyball team, the boys’ soccer team, the cross country team, and the girls’ tennis team, as they all start their playoff runs this weekend and next week, “We’re super thrilled to go out and represent Metea, and hopefully prove our record wrong by making a great run in playoffs. It should be a good, fun challenge,” soccer player Connor Lang said.

We also need to appreciate the great accomplishments that some of the teams have already accomplished, such as the boys’ golf team winning the regional championship, the girl volleyball team’s early winning streak, and the solid finish in conference for the girls tennis team.

As we wish our final “good luck”s and say our goodbyes to not only the leaves on the trees, but also the fall seasons, we wait in excitement to see what the winter Mustang teams have in store.
