Weekly Sports Update: 4/10 – 4/13

Boys’ Track and Field By Connor Smith
Both the varsity and junior varsity boys’ track and field teams participated in two meets. This past Tuesday, the teams traveled to Naperville North in a meet with both Naperville North and Naperville Central while this past Saturday, the teams hosted local schools in the annual Metea Valley Mustang Invitational at Mustang Stadium. In addition, senior Ben Piotrowski officially signed with North Central College on Wednesday to compete in men’s track and field beginning in the 2017-18 season.

This past Tuesday, the varsity and junior varsity girls’ track and field teams participated in a meet at Neuqua Valley High School. Success was seen from both levels, and the momentum was kept up for Thursday’s meet, which was held at Minooka High School.

Boys’ Water Polo By Sameen Ali
Last week, boys’ water polo had one game against Naperville North on Tuesday and JV took part in a tournament on Saturday. Varsity trailed North 3-6 going into the second half, and lost to the Huskies 11-20 at the end. At their tournament over the weekend, the JV boys won the game against Lyons Township High School, and later finished two points behind Fenwick. The teams have a game against Naperville Central this Tuesday, and will compete in a tournament this weekend.

Girls’ Water Polo By Kellie Foy
The girls’ water polo teams only have one away game this week against Naperville Central on Tuesday. The varsity team has its Valley Varsity Tournament at home on Friday and Saturday.

Girls’ Lacrosse By Kellie Foy
The girls’ varsity lacrosse team won against St. Francis, winning 13-7. The varsity lost against Conat, losing 4-12. The girls’ lacrosse teams have a game on Friday at Metea against rival Naperville North and a game on Saturday afternoon at Metea against St. Viator.

Badminton By Kellie Foy
This past week, the varsity badminton team won the Mustang Varsity Invite, winning 40-2. The varsity team won against rival Waubonsie Valley on Tuesday, winning 14-1. The JV team also beat Waubonsie, winning 15-0. The freshman team won against Waubonsie, winning 13-2. The badminton unit had its Senior Night on Thursday at home against Lake Park. The varsity team won against Lake Park, winning 10-5. The JV team also won against Lake Park, winning 12-3. They have a game on Tuesday at Wheaton Warrenville South, and a game on Thursday at Glenbard North. The teams have the Hinsdale South ABCD Invite at Hinsdale South on Saturday.

Baseball By Sameen Ali
Last Tuesday, boys’ baseball played against Naperville North. The sophomores won 7-4, and varsity ended their game with a 13-6 win. Freshman A lost to the opposing team 5-8, while freshman B beat the Huskies 10-0, and had all of their players reach base at least once. As part of a series, all levels played against North the following day as well. Varsity lost the game by one run, and the sophomore and freshman B team won once again, winning their games 8-0 and 13-3, respectively. Later that week, the teams were up against Naperville Central, where there were wins for the boys on all levels. The sophomores continued their winning streak by beating the Redhawks 11-9, and varsity came on top 13-6. Freshman B defeated the rival team 10-6, and Freshman A made a comeback with a 15-1 win in Game 1 and a 21-11 win in Game 2. The boys have a game against Aurora Christian High on Wednesday, and will play in a series against Wheaton North later in the week.

Rugby By Zainie Qureshi
Boys’ rugby had a relatively quiet week. Training for their next competition, they continued to practice with a scrimmage on Friday.

Boys’ Tennis By Liam Sweeney
Last week was a victorious week for boy’s tennis. The junior varsity team won against Naperville North, Elgin, and Hononegah on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday respectively. Naperville North, however, defeated the varsity team on Tuesday, while Naperville Central defeated both the JV and Varsity team on Thursday.

    I would like to inform that Boy’s tennis is as good as me. I am an all star who should be on varsity, but I got put on JV2 for some reason.
