Sports Update 5/15 – 5/19

Boys’ track: By Connor Smith
This past Thursday, athletes from the varsity team participated in the IHSA Sectionals meet at Hoffman Estates High School. Success was seen from senior Alonzo Taylor-Jones in the 100 meter dash event, as he moved on to participate in the IHSA State meet, which takes place this upcoming Friday and Saturday at Eastern Illinois University.

Girls’ track: By Connor Smith
The varsity girls’ track and field team ended its season this past Friday and Saturday at the IHSA State Meet at Hoffman Estates High School. As a whole, the team placed 13th overall out of 24 schools. Senior Courtney Morgan placed first in both the discus and shot put events, as she became a three time state champion in the shot put event.

Girls Lacrosse: By Kellie Foy
The girls’ lacrosse team had playoffs this past week. The team ended its season on Monday in the first round of the playoffs. The girls’ lost to Mother McCaully, losing 5-11.

Girls’ Soccer: By Hailey Hagemaster
Girls soccer beats Plainfield Central 9-0 in the regional semi final at Waubonsie. Last Friday the mustangs took on Waubonsie for the regional final winning 1-0. Next game is Wednesday in Lockport against Neuqua for the sectional semi.

Baseball: By Sameen Ali
The regular season for Boys’ Baseball came to a close last week. Varsity won the last game against Lake Park 7-6, winning the series overall. The boys’ first playoff game is this Monday against Waubonsie Valley.

Softball: By Peter Hinds
The season is now over for Junior Varsity, and their record is 8 wins to 15 losses. Varsity wraps up their season this week with a game on Wednesday.
