Looking for community service opportunities or ways to help out and volunteer? Check out below for some local events happening here at Metea and in our community.

Golf Course Volunteers
When:      Monday’s, May  thru October
Where:    June 2nd    1st Monday of the month @ Naperbrook 22204 Hassert Blvd. Plainfield, IL
June 9th      2nd Monday of the month @ Springbrook 2220 W 83rd, Naperville
Who:       1-10 volunteers ages 14 to adult
What:      Help repair divots and scars left from the golf clubs.  This is very easy with no lifting or extra bending.  You carry a small can with a mixture of grass seed, soil, and sand, you drop it tamp it with your foot and go on.  This year the target will be the practice tee’s.This is a great volunteer activity for seniors.

Park Opening’s 
When:     1st date;   Tuesday, May 13th, 2014   4:45 pm to 5:45  pm
Rain date May 14th  at 5 pm
2nd date;   Wednesday, May 21st, 2014  5 pm to 6 pm
Where:    1st date;    Crestview Knoll Park, 3803 Falcon Drive, Naperville  (Playground)
2nd date;   River Run Park, 4136 Clearwater Drive, Naperville (Playground)
Who:       1-2 volunteers, ages 14 to adult
What:      Distribute items to guests, training explanation will be provided on site. 


Park District Dance Recital Rehearsal
When:      Friday, May 16th 2014
Where:     Naperville North High School, Performing Arts Center, Door 8 and 9
What:       1 volunteer  check in/out table  3:45 pm – 9:30 pm
3 volunteers  escort dancers   3:45 pm to 9:30 pm
1 volunteer  assist in photo hallway   4 pm to 9 pm
1 volunteer  escort dancer to various areas in school  4 pm to 9 pm (or sooner)
2-3 volunteers to supervise young dancers at table with projects to past the time  3:45 pm to 9 pm (or sooner)

 
Naperville Park District Dance Recital  
When:         Sunday, May 18th 2014
Where:        Naperville North High School, Performing Arts Center, Door 8 & 9
Who:           volunteers ages 14- adult
What:          1 volunteer  @ check in table  12 pm – 1:45 pm  and then 3 pm to 4:45 pm  FILLED
2 volunteers to escort dancers from check in 12 pm – 1:30 pm and then 3 pm to 4:30 pm
4 volunteers to hand out programs at the door 12 pm – 1:45 pm  and then 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm
4-5 volunteers to supervise young dancers waiting  12 pm – pm  and then 3 pm – 6 pm
1 volunteer to escort young dances to facilities  12 pm – 3 pm and then 3 pm – 6 pm
1 volunteer to supervise hallways during the recital  1:15 pm – 3 pm and then 4:15 – 6 pm


Walnut Ridge Park 
When:        Saturday, May 24th 2014  8 am to 11 am
Where:       Walnut Ridge Park, meet at Shimer Court, Naperville
Who:           Groups, families, individuals  all ages
What:          Help clean up a wooded area of garlic mustard and other invasive


   
Senior Bingo FILLED
When:        Wednesday, May 28th, 2014  all times for these events are 12:30pm-2:30pm

Where:      Alfred Rubin Centre, Community Hall, 305 W. Jackson Ave. Naperville, IL
Who:          2 volunteers per shift, ages 16 to adult.  All volunteers must be interviewed for this position before being   accepted as a volunteer, skills for these positions cannot be determined online. Volunteers must commit for a minimum of two dates.
What:       Volunteers will help serve food, replenish drinks, assist seniors with clean up after lunch, verify bingo numbers, assist with consolation prize basket, clean up after event and any other tasks requested by the Bingo Coordinator.  

Kite Fest  
When:      Sunday, June 1st 2014    1st shift    9:30 am to 1 pm
2nd shift  1 pm to 4:30 pm
Where:    Frontier Park of Cedar Glad Road, Naperville IL
Who:       12-15 volunteers ages 16 year to adult
What:      Outgoing, volunteers good with people skills.  Oversee inflatables, set up and clean up stakes and flags for flying areas.  


Helping in the Parks 
When:    Saturday, June 7th  8 am to 11:30 am
Where:   Dorothy Wiegand Park, 2436 S. Washington Street, Naperville
Who:      5-15 volunteers, families, groups, individuals
What:     Help clean up the park from flood debris, brush, honeysuckle


Volunteers at Centennial Beach
When:    Monday’s thru Saturday’s   2  shifts   3-5:30 pm5:30-8 pm;  Starting June 9th.
Where:   Centennial Beach, 500 W. Jackson Ave. Naperville IL
Who:      2 volunteers per shift  ages 14 to adult
What:     Volunteers will assist in keeping the park clean, by litter picking, sweeping the deck, helping to empty the trash cans, clearing up after a rental etc.  All volunteers must volunteer for a minimum of 3 dates thru the summer.  Volunteers will wear a volunteer t shirt during each shift, this t shirt is supplied by the Volunteer Coordinator Lynnette Hoole.  


Diggin Dinosaurs Camp Volunteer
When:   Monday, June 16th thru Thursday, June 19th 2014  12:30 – 3:30 pm
Where:  Seager Park, 1163 Plank Road, Naperville, IL
Who:     1-3 volunteers ages 16 years to adult
What:    Assist Nature Program Instructor with camp activities.  Previous experience working with children a must. Volunteer please dress for the weather, hiking.  Bring a water bottle, sunscreen and insect repellent.

Nature Summer Camp Volunteer
When:   Monday, June 23rd thru Thursday, June 26th  12:30 – 3:30 pm
Where: Seager Park, 1163 Plank Road, Naperville, IL
Who:  1-3 volunteers ages 16 year to adult

June 29th    Wil o Way Park, 1408 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville
July 13th      Winding Creek Park, 144 W. Bailey Road, Naperville
July 20th      Old Saw Mill Park, 432 Massachusetts Ave. Naperville
July 27th      Tall Grass Park, 3512 Grassmere Road, Naperville
August 3rd, Fox Hill Greens, 1635 Brookdale Road, Naperville
Who:      2-3 Volunteers   It is suggested that a volunteer comes to a minimum of two dates.
What:     Help set up , hand out sponsor materials, take down


Family Camp Out 
When:    
 Saturday, June 14th  2 pm to 6 pm  1st shift
6 pm to 10 pm  2nd shift
Where:     Seager Park,  1163 Plank Road, Naperville IL
Who:         6-8 volunteers ages 14 to adult
What:       Help set up for the families attending the event.  Help with check in, food prep, games, assist staff as needed.  Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear solid shoes.

Children’s Lunch Hour Entertainment  Younger Volunteer Opportunity
When:   Tuesday, June 17th  11:30 to 1:30  Riverwalk
Tuesday, June 24th  11:30 to 1:30  Frontier Park off Book Road
Tuesday, July 8th  11:30 to 1:30 Riverwalk
Tuesday, July 15th  11:30 to 1:30 Frontier Park off Book Road
Tuesday, July 29th,  11:30 to 1:30 Frontier Park off Book Road
Who:     2 volunteers ages 12 to adult
What:    Looking for friendly volunteers to help be greeters, assist in show if needed.  


Jr. Tour De Naperville 
When:       Saturday, July 12th 2014  7:30 am to 11:30 am
Where:     Commissioners Park,  3704 111th Street, Naperville, IL
Who:        16-20 Volunteers   ages 14 to adult
What:       We need friendly outgoing individuals to help check in riders, serve at the food and drink table.  Volunteers might be asked to hand out t shirts, numbers, or man the “first aid” table.  


Helping in our Parks Ongoing Projects
When:  Weekdays and Weekends as planned thru Volunteer Coordinator
Where: Riverwoods Park, Goodrich Woods, etc.
Who:    Individuals and groups interested in helping in the parks
What:   Help spread mulch on our trails throughout the parks listed.  Supplies will be supplied and supervision during the week.  Great team bonding activity for organizations or teams, clubs and friends.
