Girls’ Badminton (Tyler Burleyson)
The team defeated Oak Lawn last Wednesday, losing 4-11.
Boys’ Tennis (Tyler Burleyson)
The team has its first match against St. Charles North on April 2.
Girls’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)
Varsity began its season with a victory over Glenbard West last Thursday, winning 3-1. The team followed that up with a victory against Carl Sandburg on Saturday, 4-0.
Boys’ Track (Tyler Burleyson)
The team competed in one of the seminal indoor season meets, the DVC Championship, last Saturday. The team placed fourth overall, with two individual conference champions. Senior Rokas Gudinavicius won the 1600-meter, and junior Pryce Giwa-Osagie won the high jump.
Baseball (Myra Bajwa)
Varsity has its first game against West Aurora on Friday, and JV plays against Bartlett on March 23.
Softball (Myra Bajwa)
Softball plays its first game against Joliet West on Monday.
Girls’ Track (Myra Bajwa)
The girls’ track team competed at its DVC conference on Friday. Laurel Rony placed first in the 400-meter, Terri Scarlett, Carly Cast, Natalie Weisman and Keely Weber placed fourth in the 4×800 relay, and Jacquie Slaughter placed seventh in the 200-meter dash. Next week, the team faces Glenbard North on Wednesday.
Ultimate Frisbee (Myra Bajwa)
The Ultimate Frisbee team placed second at a tournament in Rockford this past weekend. The team’s record was 5-3 over the weekend, including a win over Evanston-Township in the Semifinals, winning 8-7. The team fell to Neuqua Valley A in the Finals. Their first regular season game is at Stuart Sports Complex on April 4th.
Hockey (Myra Bajwa)
The varsity hockey team advanced to the IHSA State tournament after beating Glenbard, winning 4-3. The team will play at the United Center on March 24.
Girls’ Lacrosse (Kellie Foy)
Both levels started out their seasons with wins, currently holding a record of 2-0. JV beat Schaumburg, winning 8-2. Varsity beat Schaumburg, winning 10-4. JV beat Minooka, winning 10-5. Varsity beat Minooka, winning 15-1. The girls play at Metea against Chicago Heights Marian on Tuesday and at Metea against Lincoln-Way Central on Thursday.
Boys’ Volleyball (Kellie Foy)
The volleyball unit has its first home game of the season against Hinsdale Central on Tuesday. The unit goes on to play at Downers Grove North on Wednesday and at Joliet West on Friday and Saturday.
Boys’ Water Polo (Kellie Foy)
The boys lost to Lockport on Monday, losing 11-14. The team went to Neuqua on Tuesday, losing 9-13. The team lost to Andrew on Thursday, losing 9-14. The unit plays at Waubonsie on Tuesday and at home against Sandburg on Wednesday.
Girls’ Water Polo (Kellie Foy)
Both levels were able to beat Neuqua on Tuesday. Varsity beat the Wildcats, winning 15-3. JV beat Neuqua, winning 11-2. The girls play at home against Waubonsie on Tuesday, at Sandburg on Wednesday and at Prospect on Thursday.
Rugby (Connor Smith)
The Chiefs Rugby Club continued practicing this past week after tremendous success at the NashBash tournament. The team kicks off its regular season versus Rockford at home on Thursday, March 29.
Special Olympics (Connor Smith)
The Special Olympics unified basketball team traveled down to Peoria this past weekend to participate in the IHSA State Unified Basketball Tournament for the second consecutive season. The team faced LaSalle-Peru on Friday and advanced to Saturday’s championship game with an impressive win, winning 42-30. The team fell short in the championship to Pontiac Township, losing 39-55. Despite the eventual loss, the team put in a tremendous amount of effort throughout both games and was able to earn a second place finish overall.
Boys’ Lacrosse (Connor Smith)
The varsity and junior varsity boys’ lacrosse teams had their first games of the season last Wednesday at Lemont. Varsity had a capitalizing win, winning 16-5. Junior Varsity also won, winning 10-1. Varsity also participated in a tournament this past Saturday and finished second place to Bartlett. Both units will face Marmion at home on Wednesday.
