YBN Cordae, “The Lost Boy” 8/10
YBN Cordae has been riding the wave he started after his stunning response to J Cole’s 1985. The young Maryland rapper showcased great lyricism that reminded rap fans of J Cole’s lyricism at his peak. Cordae has succeeded in every regard with this new album. Cordae mixes hip house tracks with modern trap in a way that resembles something that early Drake and Kanye would put out in today’s era. Part of the grand appeal of the album is Cordae’s personality. The Maryland native brings out top notch lines and collabs that makes the entire album a lot more impressive. Cordae is definitely one of the best of the new generation of rappers and someone who’s gonna contribute a lot to the culture and hopefully continue to release quality albums like this.
