Regular Show
Regular Show (2010-2017)
Regular show is completely the opposite of what it claims to be. Following the lives of two working-class friends who are trying to get through life as simply as possible, a bluejay named Mordecai and raccoon named Rigby navigate their way through a wacky town with unforeseen outcomes. The two best friends work as groundskeepers at a local park in which they have to solve the everyday problems a park could bring about. While this may seem regular as the show’s name suggests, that is far from the truth. Mordecai, Rigby, and the others have frequent encounters with at the park solve problems that lead to often supernatural and extreme results. The show simply started out just as a few similar cartoons such as Adventure Time and Steven Universe in which the duo would go on wacky adventures in the park and solve them as if nothing was out of the ordinary. However, as the show continued, a heavily detailed and unexpected plot was thrown into the mix and created a well-thought-out and suspenseful cartoon, becoming one of Cartoon Network’s most popular on the channel.
Regular Show is full of excitement and unexpected adventure that leads the viewer down a path of the unknown while also teaching important values such as love and finding one’s self. Its use of personified animals and relatable characters creates a show that is enjoyable for all. With its last season ending in 2017, there is no sign of more Regular Show to come, but it is definitely recommended to binge-watch the four total seasons this winter break
