Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu (2011-)

While it is not one of the most well-known shows on the list, Ninjago shows the benefits of teamwork and personal growth in a non-cliche way. The show takes place in the fictional world of Ninjago where a group of ninja fights off the evil in their land. The story begins with the basic children’s show themes and stereotypical characters. However, as Ninjago progresses, it becomes more intricate. The show has great character development as characters have to face their flaws to help those around them. A common misconception is that the show’s only purpose is to sell toys. Although it is a Lego show, Ninjago deals with difficult concepts such as facing the evil in others as well as oneself, failure, and coping with death. They manage to portray these topics while maintaining a lighthearted atmosphere thus showing its cleverness and creativity.

The unique and creative twists that occur during each season of the show has made it one of the most captivating and underrated cartoons of the decade. Despite Ninjago’s lack of recognition, the fans of the show revived it from its original ending in 2012. Furthermore, the show is still going strong as it will be releasing its twelfth season in 2020.
