Moonlight/Sunrise by Rope and Ladder
Sticking with the theme, “Moonlight/Sunrise” takes melodic inspiration from Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.” It is the third song of Rope and Ladder’s self-titled rock opera. It starts off with piano and guitar, but it explodes into this rock feel with a piano line inspired from “Moonlight Sonata.” It is part of the full opera’s narrative, but it also makes sense standing alone. The contrast of the moonlight and sunrise in the lyrics and in the accompaniment is beautiful. I do not usually listen to rock, but the classical integration in “Moonlight/Sunrise” pulls me into this song.
