Neglected Space by Imogen Heap
“Neglected Space” is not so much a song as it is an auditory poem. Most of it is sung in the spoken word, rising and falling in momentum in a very atmospheric way. It gives the impression of uncovering ancient ruins, which fits perfectly with the subject of the song. “Neglected Space” is spoken from the perspective of an abandoned, decaying house, pleading with its listener to let it live and prove itself to them before it will be inevitably demolished. It is a fantastic exercise in personification.

▸ Content that is irrelevant to the article or does not add to the discussion
