Jim Croce takes all the attributes of classic rock and makes them into a beautiful love ballad about wanting to hold on to certain moments. The mood of the electric bass gives the song a double meaning- the fondness of memories, but also the uncertainty of the future.
This song is a perfect song to listen to when you just want to be comforted because Croce’s voice is a perfect mixture of both rough and melodic. This song has been used in many notable movies since its 1973 release date, including “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “The Last American Hero.”
