The reveal of the star-studded cast of the upcoming animated Mario Movie in Sept. 2021 left its mark on the internet. The thought of Chris Pratt voicing Mario and Jack Black as Bowser was incomprehensible at the time. Over a year later, the first teaser trailer came out on Oct. 7, 2022, following a poster of the re-imagined Mushroom Kingdom. 

The film has been officially titled “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” and is being helmed by a collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination, with veteran game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, overseeing the production. The film will be distributed by Universal Pictures and is set to release on April 7, 2023.
