It seemed like the weekend was going as any usual September weekend does: the weather was nice, the homework was ignored, and the Zoey 101 time capsule was dug up.
What’s that you say? Yes, “Zoey 101” is back. Well, Chase and Michael at least.
The scene opens with a clam being slid across the table and you have to wonder “What am I watching right now?” But lo and behold, the awkward, charming, bushy-haired Chase Matthews appears before your eyes, in the video posted by Nickelodeon. It’s okay to let your excited screams out now.
Michael appears not too long after, and after (almost) proposing to a new girlfriend (Choey forever, though), Chase finds that Michael comes with a gift: Zoey’s message to him in the time capsule.
A time capsule video in a clip that seems to feel like we’re looking back in time. Kudos to you, Nickelodeon.
Chase decides to run out the door to find Zoey, and the ten minute clip seems to end way too short, with the promise of a “to be continued…?” being the only thing keeping people holding on for more. But that question mark is there for a reason: There has been no news from Nickelodeon on whether or not the series will continue full time.
Despite the 13.4 million views of the video on Teen Nick’s Facebook page, there’s a surprising lack of attention being drawn to why the hit series made the clip, or what may or may not be following it, so there’s not much anyone can do but wait.
The generation ahead of us got “Girl Meets World,” so it’s only fair that we have our spin-off, too. If the fans of “Zoey 101” love the show as much as Chase loves Zoey, there’s sure to be a happy ending in the near future. And if you found yourself still humming along to the theme song 10 years later, then keep your eyes peeled for more to come.
