Weather changes, it gets dark at six at night, and your 4.0 GPA goal has now slipped to a 3.5 – it’s finally November. To help with this overwhelming time of the year I’ve come up with five solid albums you need to listen to this month, a playlist if you will, that will basically become the soundtrack of your November… Here it is:
#1
Mac Miller’s “GO:OD AM”
Not going to lie, I spent basically all the money in my bank account to buy this album. It’s the only thing I listened to in my car for over a week and I now know every word to every song on it. Miller has always had a unique style of music; though, I feel every album he writes has a new theme and sound to it. If you’re not a huge fan of Mac Miller (or if you have no idea who he is) I would suggest looking up his song “Weekend feat. Miguel”, it’s a classic.
Best Songs: “Ascension”, “Weekend (feat. Miguel)”, and “Clubhouse.”
#2
Rolling Stones’s “Some Girls”
Yes, I know it’s an oldie, but where can you go wrong with the Stones’? The songs on this record have a cool and laid back tone to them that you can listen to on repeat for hours. Personally, the song “Beast of Burden” changed my life for the better and I’m sure it will change yours too.
Best Songs: “Beast of Burden”, “Shattered”, and “Lies.”
#3
Hippo Campus’s “South” EP
I know what you’re thinking… “Who?” But trust me, that’s what I thought too until I heard their song “Dollar Bill” and spent $5 on iTunes buying this album. They performed at Lolla this summer on a small stage which only a few people attended, but after hearing this EP you’ll start to understand why seeing the smaller artists at music festivals is incredibly important.
Best Songs: “Dollar Bill”, “South”, and “The Halocline.”
#4
Adele’s “Hello”
Guys… we all know that even though it is EXTREMELY late that Adele’s album is literally going to blow us all away. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen crying while solemnly wording the words to her new single ‘Hello’. You can be the slightest bit upset about the fact that she took a minor leave of absence like six millenniums ago but it’ll all be worth it when we’re charged $11 for our pre-orders.
Best Songs: “Hello”, ???, ???
#5
Mick Jenkins’s “The Water[s]”
I don’t know about you, but underground-ish rappers really make me happy… especially when they make music like Jenkins. He collabs with artists such as Jean Deaux and Joey Bada** which broaded his artistic ability and spectrum. I really reccomend this album for this month because his songs have a really summer-type vibe that bring back many nostalgic memories from this summer.
Best Songs: “THC”, “The Waters”, and “Vibe.”
