The Mustangs are continuing to establish their place in the DVC, and currently have an overall record of 2-3 in the conference. This week included two close losses against Naperville Central and Wheaton North, with the Mustangs closely trailing by 12 and 4, respectively. These losses gave way to a spectacular defeat of Waubonsie Valley. A strong opening half allowed the team to keep a significant lead against the Warriors, which continued throughout the game. A near even record in the DVC is respectable for a fairly inexperienced team. According to Ashley Konkle, the team’s only freshman, “the girls don’t look down to me. They treat me like just another player, which allows me to bring a lot of energy to the team.” This positive dynamic encourages Konkle to make many offensive contributions to her team, a significant factor in every game. Their seasons continues throughout winter break as they compete in the Oswego East Holiday Classic Tournament, beginning next Monday and ending next Saturday.
