Why did you decide to go to Mizzou?
When I was deciding which school I wanted to go to, I wanted to go to a school I felt comfortable in and that felt like home, and when I stepped on campus I knew it would be the place for me. I think I just like the atmosphere, everyone is so welcoming. My sister is a sophomore there right now and whenever I go there her friends are so welcoming, everyone was just so nice.
How do you feel about going to college with your sister?
I think it will be a comfort thing, Mizzou is kind of far away, but not too far. If anything were to happen, I know I’d have her there to help me.
Are you planning to get involved at Mizzou?
I plan on rushing, so I will go a week early in the fall to try to get into a sorority. I think sororities can give you a close-knit group of friends. I think it will give me a good group of friends to latch onto during freshman year.
What are you looking forward to at the school?
I went down during homecoming week this year, and I liked seeing the parade they did, the huge floats, and the big boards they put at the sorority and fraternity houses. It was really cool, it was something completely different I had never seen before.
What do you plan on studying?
I plan on doing event and hospitality management. My aunt is in event management, and I’ve shadowed her a couple times. Seeing what she does, I could see myself fitting in. I’m usually a really organized person, and I like to plan things. I would like to do corporate events, so people will call, say they have something they need an event planned for, and then you plan the hotel if it’s travel, the events for the people, and for conventions you book the centers they need.
What are you going to miss about Metea?
I’m going to miss all my friends. Most of my friends I’ve been friends with since kindergarten, so it’s going to be really hard leaving people I’ve grown up with since I was a baby and in kindergarten. For 18 years, I’ve had these people to fall back on, so it’ll be different having to find new people to trust that you haven’t gone to school with for forever.
