As the school year comes to a start, the Booster Club held its annual Mustang Mania this past Friday night. Parents, students, athletes, and staff filled the bleachers with excitement to see what their upcoming athletic seasons have in store for the Metea community.
“Mustang Mania was a fun event that let students reunite with each other and introduced them to sports at our school. I had a great time watching [the games],” sophomore Emily Nelson said.
While the night continued on, booth tables were available for winter and spring sports that go on throughout the year. Small games were at tables for families to play along with, as well as winning candy and receiving information for each sport. Apparel was sold, concessions were up and running, raffles were held, and other activities were held for the families.
“The money generated from the booster will help the sports team throughout the year,” booster parent David Widd said.
Students and athletes were also given the opportunity to dunk their favorite teachers and coaches at the famous dunk tank. The money raised from the dunk tank and other activities went towards the funding of Metea’s sports teams. The dunk tank has always been successful, being one of the biggest fundraisers Metea has.
The funds from Mustang Mania also benefit the entire school as a whole. New water fountains have been added for those who fill up their water bottles throughout the day. The football stadium is receiving significant upgrades as well.
“I think that the money that was spent at Mustang Mania will go to the various activities that we have at Metea,” sophomore Nitya Nagarajan said. “[They benefit] the extracurricular sports and clubs, as well as the music and theater program that we have.”
