Kenneth Voytell, a sophomore at Metea, has his own tech repair company, and has been helping people with their broken electronic devices.
What is your company, and what does it do?
It’s called Tech n’ More, and we repair phones, computers, tablets, any anything electronic basically. We also do stuff like warranties.
How did you start it?
It started two years ago at the end of eighth grade. We really locked it up ninth grade when we started working on the website. We really started to run in out of Metea and on the internet. Also, we can send [electronics] back over the internet when they’re refurbished and certified.
Do you have employees?
I have eight employees, and each one manages their own thing. Some work on the Internet, some do sales, some work on phones ,and others search the internet to find phones.
Where do you do this and how do you work the company?
I do most of the work out of my house, but I have many suppliers that I get parts from. I send each employee requirements of things they have to do and things they have to look for. So if a phone is available one day, they have to get it and send it to me, or they find people from Metea or around their area with phones that need to be fixed.
Do you get good business? I get pretty good business. Right now it’s a little bit slow, but usually you have to wait for a new phone to come out, and it takes a little while for the phones to come in. But Metea is the main market, and I also get business from other schools too.
Do you plan on expanding the company?
Yes, I definitely will expand it. We have future plans, like a shop, or maybe a kiosk in the mall. But we definitely want to have a website up.
What got you into this type of work?
I’m certified by Apple, Samsung and Microsoft too, and you have to be certified by them to work for them. But I’m not really a worker; I’m more of a contractor for them, and being certified by them allows me to have a higher price, and it allows me to be prepared for more situations and get better parts.
