Weekly Sports Update 9/11-9/16

Football (Kellie Foy)
The varsity football team lost to Wheaton North, losing 36-14. This week, the football unit plays rival Waubonsie Valley for the Eola Bowl.
Girls’ Golf (Kellie Foy)
This past week, the JV girls’ golf team beat rival Waubonsie Valley, Lake Park, and Glenbard North. The varsity girls’ golf team beat Glenbard North on Thursday at the Stonebridge Country Club. Maddie Neihardt, Savannah White, Grace Buchta, and Alyssa Pellegrini led the varsity team this past week. This upcoming week, the team plays at Orchard Valley against Plainfield East on Monday and Wheaton Warrenville South on Thursday. The team plays at the Naperville North Rosie Invite on Saturday.
Girls Volleyball (Kellie Foy)
Last Tuesday, the girls’ volleyball unit took on Neuqua Valley for the annual Dig Pink game. The varsity team beat Neuqua, winning two out of three sets. The varsity team finished thirteenth overall at the Wheaton Classic. The Freshman A team finished sixth overall at the Naperville North Invite. The sophomore team placed second in the championship match at the Metea Valley Invite. The volleyball unit plays Naperville North at home on Tuesday, at Geneva on Wednesday, and at the Waubonsie Warrior Blast on Friday and Saturday.
Girls’ XC (Myra Bajwa)
The girls’ cross country team hosted the annual Metea Run-a-thon on Saturday. Next Saturday, the girls travel to St.Charles North for their next invite.
Boys’ XC (Myra Bajwa)
The boys’ cross country team helped host the annual Metea Run-a-Thon last Saturday with girls’ cross country. Next week, the team travels to St.Charles for the St.Charles North invite.
Girls’ Swim (Myra Bajwa)
Girls’ swim and dive competed victoriously at Naperville North on Thursday, September 14th. The team beat the Huskies in the dual meet, a first for the program. Next week, girls’ swim faces Neuqua at home.
Boys’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)
This week was a busy one for the boys’ soccer team. The team lost its first game on Tuesday against Lane Tech, losing 0-1. That match was followed by another loss, this time to Plainfield Central, losing 1-3. The boys rallied and overcame on Saturday, winning 2-0 in a long game against Addison Trail. Their next games will be on the road, Tuesday at Naperville Central and Thursday at Wheaton North.
Boys’ Golf (Tyler Burleyson)
The team made a great showing last week in the Aurora City Tournament, with both varsity and junior varsity taking 1st place. They kept that momentum going into the next day with varsity shooting a collective 148, a season low. 4 members of the team shot under 40, with junior Scott Boyajian shooting a career best 33.
Girls’ Tennis (Tyler Burleyson)
Last Thursday was a good one for the girls’ tennis team. Varsity beat rival Waubonsie 6-1 at home. The girls’ volleyball team made an appearance at the match to cheer on their fellow Mustangs, and were excited to see the girls handily defeat Waubonsie Valley.
