Weekly Sports Update 9/26-9/31

Football (Kellie Foy)
The varsity football team lost to Lake Park this past Friday for its last home game of the season and Homecoming game, losing 0-41. The team’s current record is 0-6. This week, the football unit plays at Wheaton Warrenville South.
Girls’ Golf (Kellie Foy)
The girls’ golf team placed seventh overall in its DuPage Valley Conference on Tuesday. Maddie Niehardt, Grace Butcha, and Sara Lagvankar lead the team at the DVC conference. Lagvankar and Alyssa Pellegrini were a couple standout golfers this overall season. The girls’ play at the IHSA Regionals Tournament on Wednesday at Orchard Valley.
Girls Volleyball (Kellie Foy)
The varsity girls’ volleyball team beat Naperville Central on Tuesday, winning 2-0. The team also beat Downers Grove North in two sets as well. The freshman A and B teams lost to Downers Grove North in three sets while the sophomore team loses to Downers Grove North in two sets. The volleyball unit plays at Wheaton North on Tuesday, and at home on Thursday against rival Waubonsie Valley.
Girls’ XC (Myra Bajwa)
The girls’ cross country unit has a busy week this week, with the St.Charles North Invite last Saturday, and the Naperville North Twilight Invite coming up on Wednesday. On Saturday, the varsity team placed eighth with Carly Cast and Keely Weber leading the pack. The team looks to improve on Wednesday at Naperville North before the DuPage Valley Conference.
Boys’ XC (Myra Bajwa)
The boys’ varsity cross country team placed eleventh overall on Saturday at the St.Charles North Invite. Ralph Papa came in second with a time of 15:06.4. Next Wednesday, the team will compete at the Naperville North Twilight Invite, which will be their last invite before the DuPage Valley Conference.
Girls’ Swim (Myra Bajwa)
Girls’ swim and dive competed at the Downers Grove South Invite on Saturday, Sept.30. The team swam amazingly and placed second overall. McKenna Stone set new meet records in the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay groups set more meet records. They will hopefully continue to perform well against Wheaton on Thursday.
Boys’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)
The varsity boys’ soccer team beat rival Waubonsie Valley on Tuesday in double overtime, winning 3-2. The JV1 team beat Waubonsie as well, winning 3-0. On Wednesday, the JV1. team tied with Lake Park, tying 0-0. The varsity team beat Lake Park on Thursday, winning 1-0. The frosh team beat Wheaton Warrenville South on Thursday, winning 6-0. On Saturday, the JV1 and frosh teams both beat Oswego East, while the varsity team lost to Oswego East. The varsity soccer team has the Waubonsie Warrior Invite at home on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The varsity team also plays at Wheaton Warrenville South on Tuesday.
Boys’ Golf (Tyler Burleyson)
The JV boys’ golf team finished fourth overall in its conference season this year. The Mustangs won the Lemont Invite this past Saturday. The team has the IHSA Regionals Tournament on Tuesday at Orchard Valley.
Girls’ Tennis (Tyler Burleyson)
Last Thursday night was Senior Night for the girls’ tennis team. The varsity team beat St. Francis on Thursday, winning 9-0 for Senior Night. The varsity girls’ tennis team plays at Rosary on Monday, at West Aurora on Tuesday, and has the DuPage Valley Conference on Friday and Saturday.
