Here’s more links on the subject of why Petland is an absolute disaster:

I agree, it was disappointing to see Petland footage for a rehab and rescue club instead of NAHS animals

Gotta point out something here. See the pet store shown in the video, with the puppies? That’s Petland.
Petland is notorious for its abundance in puppy mill breeding. Puppy mill breeding is a terrible, terrible thing that goes against everything Naperville Humane Society is for. Basically, dogs are placed in cages on top of each other, forcefully bred over and over, and the poppies are sold for profit. The cages are never cleaned, the dogs used to produce puppies are in terrible health, and the puppies themselves reflect this. Many puppies bred from these mills have sickness, heart defects, worms… The list goes on and on. Petland also does not take care of its animals- for example, in many stores the hamster cages are placed low to the ground and with the cage tops open, so young children can reach in and grab the snimals. Puppies and kittens are cared for in bad conditions (see that wire mesh on the floor? That causes sores in their feet) and sicknesses are never treated. Many animals from the place die soon after being bought due to problems brought on by puppy mills and Petland.
For the love of animals, please do not support Petland or other puppy mill-supporting stores. I am ashamed that The Mane has even considered filming there for a club meant to help out animals in need, let alone actually using footage from the place in their video.
