Weekly Sports Update 5/14-5/18
Boys’ Tennis (Nate Burleyson)
The doubles team of senior Ian Doyle and sophomore Aleks Schroeder qualified for the state tournament.
Girls’ Soccer (Nate Burleyson)
Girls’ Soccer beat Yorkville 2-0 on Tuesday in the regional semi-final. On Friday, they took on and beat Plainfield South, 2-0.
Boys’ Track (Nate Burleyson)
The Boys’ Track team had their sectional meet on Thursday. Temi Osobamiro qualified for state in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump. The 4×800 relay took second place in the sectional and qualified for state.
Baseball (Myra Bajwa)
Varsity beat Harlem with a score of 2-0 on Tuesday and won 10-8 against Yorkville on Wednesday. Next week, the team competes at IHSA Regionals on Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday.
Softball (Myra Bajwa)
The girls lost to Wheaton Warrenville South with a score of 0-1 on Tuesday but rallied to beat Glenbard North 1-0 on Wednesday. Next week, varsity competes at IHSA Regionals on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
Ultimate Frisbee (Myra Bajwa)
Varsity played three games last Wednesday. They beat Lake Park 13-0, Wheaton-Warrenville South 7-4, and Conant 10-4.
Girls’ Lacrosse (Nate Burleyson)
Last Friday, the Girls’ Lacrosse team lost to Neuqua. The JV Team beat Neuqua and finished their season 14-1.
Boys’ Volleyball (Nate Burleyson)
Last Thursday, the Boys’ team beat Glenbard East in two sets, 25-23 and 25-17. They start their postseason this week, they face the winner of Wheaton Warrenville South and Argo on Tuesday in the main gym.
Rugby (Connor Smith)
Through tremendous teamwork, the D2 High School Boys defeated Lake Forest 48-12 last Thursday, advancing to play Montini this week in the semifinals. Although the D3 High School Boys fell to Springfield Jr. 7-38 on Saturday, the club still has one more match this upcoming weekend for third place in the division against either Elmhurst, Plainfield or Twin City.
Special Olympics (Connor Smith)
Special Olympics participated in the annual district bowling meet at Parkside Lanes this past Thursday to conclude both the bowling season and the year as a whole.
Boys’ Lacrosse (Connor Smith)
The Warriors beat the Huntley Red Raiders in a nail-biting 14-12 win last Tuesday in front of a home crowd on Senior Night. Next up for the boys is a regional match today on the road against St. Francis HS in Wheaton.
