Marching Mustangs perform Disney tribute show
The marching band is beginning its tenth season with a Disney themed program and two new Drum Majors.
Marching Mustangs director Glen Schneider is in charge of choosing the topic. “Every year I ask the students what they would like to do for the next year, and then using what they would like and then some of the things that I like I go out and start listening to a lot of the music,” Schneider said. “And then we have to tie it all together and make a show out of it.”
The show includes music from The Incredibles, Disney’s Fireworks show at Epcot, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King. Upwards of 26 shapes will be made by the students throughout the show.
“[Marching band is] definitely a really great experience, it’s a lot different than being in a sport because it’s more like a big family, we’re all one big group,” senior trumpet player and section leader Sarah Ramsey said.
Junior Drum Major and flutist Haley Hsu’s favorite part of marching band is performing. “As [a performer] the best feeling when I perform is knowing that I can communicate to the audience in a way without having to say anything, just listen to the music and feel the same emotions I’m feeling,” Hsu said.
The show will be performed at football games and at festivals across the state.
