Weekly Sports Update: 9/10-9/15
Boys’ Cross Country (Leland Pan)
The team did not have a meet this past week. Their next meet is a Run-A-Thon at home on Saturday.
Girls’ Cross Country (Madison McCalley)
The team did not have a meet this past week. Their next meet is a Run-A-Thon at home on Saturday.
Football (Nate Burleyson)
The varsity team lost at Naperville North on Friday, 38-14. The Mustangs scored on a wildcat play by junior Colin Wilcox and a kickoff return by senior Julian Wlodarczyk. Metea plays Naperville Central at home this Friday.
Boys’ Golf (Leland Pan)
The Boys last week broke the school record at the Aurora City Classic with a final score of 303 on Wednesday. The Mustangs also played against Wheaton North on Thursday with Scott Boyajian and Scott Madland leading the team. The boys play a home match against Waubonsie Valley on Tuesday, Neuqua Valley at Naperbrook Golf Course in Bolingbrook on Thursday, and the Sterling Invite on Saturday at Emerald Hill Golf Course.
Girls’ Golf (Nate Burleyson)
The girls’ golf team played three matches in four days last week. Starting on Monday they traveled to Batavia and lost. On Wednesday they took down Plainfield East. They had a rematch on Thursday against DVC-opponent Naperville North and lost. This next week they play both district 204 opponents, at Neuqua on Tuesday and home versus Waubonsie on Thursday.
Hockey (Nate Burleyson)
The varsity team played a scrimmage against York on Friday, they won 8-3. Varsity will practice the next two weeks until they open their regular season at home against Wheaton West on Sept. 28.
Boys’ Soccer (Nate Burleyson)
The boys’ soccer team competed in the Pepsico Showdown this past week, they lost 2-1 at Lyons Township on Tuesday, beat Plainfield Central 5-0 on Thursday, and 6-0 against Hoffman Estates on Saturday. This week, the Mustangs play Waubonsie at home on Tuesday at 6:30.
Girls’ Swim and Dive (Madison McCalley)
The team did not have a meet this past week. Their next meet is at home against Lake Park on Tuesday the 25th.
Girls’ Tennis (Leland Pan)
The girls played a total of four matches the past week starting off with a victory against IMSA on Monday. They played an away match at Hinsdale South the following day. The Mustangs then played a conference match against Naperville North on Thursday and lost 2-5. After a tough match, the girls came back on Saturday winning the quad-school invite at Downers Grove North. This week, they play an away match at Neuqua Valley on Thursday and they are participating in the Evanston Quad on Saturday.
Girls’ Volleyball (Madison McCalley)
On Monday, varsity fell in 3 sets against Plainfield East. On Wednesday, varsity finished 3rd in pool play at the Wheaton Classic tournament. On Thursday, varsity fell in 2 sets against Naperville Central. The girls ended the week finishing 1-2 at the Wheaton Classic tournament on Saturday. Next week, the team has a game on Tuesday at home against Naperville Central Then, the girls play at Plainfield South on Friday and Saturday.
