The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States Of America • Oct 23, 2018 at 1:19 pm
The administration censored it because it contained about 2 seconds of an alcoholic drink at the Italian restaurant, Vais.
It is ironic because in their policy it states that Mane, Metea Media, and the Stampede “will not be reviewed or restrained by school officials prior to publication or distribution . . . student editors will make all decisions of content . . . The Stampede and Metea Media and their staffs are protected by and bound to the principles of the First Amendment, the Speech Rights of Student Journalist Act, and other protections and limitations afforded by the Constitution and the various laws and court decisions implementing those principles.”
Two seconds of alcoholic drinks are not going to make the school go drink alcoholic beverages.
The school is starting to remind me of a police state. I feel like that the people who do really bad stuff don’t get caught due to the fact that they know how to not get seen breaking the rules, but the good kids who perform minor offenses like gum chewing always get in trouble. The teachers always teach us to question authority when we read novels like Animal Farm or 1984, but the administration performs similar actions to limit freedoms.
