Weekly Sports Update: 11/12 – 11/17
Girls’ Basketball (Leland Pan)
The Mustangs on Tuesday started off the season with opponent Round Lake High School. The final score was Round Lake 36 Metea 29. Thursday, the girls had a great bounce-back from Tuesday against North Chicago High School with a final score of 40-21. The Lady Mustangs took another big win at Maine East High School 40-36 on Saturday, they play another away game today at Maine East High School.
Hockey (Nate Burleyson)
The varsity team competed in the Carillon Cup this past week. They played Neuqua Valley in the first round on Thursday and won 5-1. In league play, they played Lincoln-Way on Saturday winning 6-2. Yesterday they faced off against Oswego and won 5-2. The team plays Naperville Central tomorrow.
Girls’ Swim and Dive (Madison McCalley)
The team competed at the state tournament this past weekend. The team placed a record 7th overall at the competition. The 400-yard relay team of Laurel Bludgen, Aimee Patterson, Kellie Willhite, and McKenna Stone broke the school record and placed second in the state. McKenna Stone also placed 2nd in the 50 free and 2nd in the 100 free. The 200-yard free team of Laurel Bludgen, Rylee Stone, Kellie Willhite, and McKenna Stone placed 2nd overall. And Kellie Willhite placed 7th in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Where is Metea girls basketball team? The freshman team has been having a great season so far 11-1 (that’s pretty awesome) Some recognition wouldn’t be too bad even though we don’t play to get recognized but because we love the sport some people should know how we’re doing
