Weekly Sports Update 11/26 – 12/1

Girls’ Basketball (Leland Pan)

The varsity team hosted Glenbard North high school Wednesday night. The girls fell short by five points, 30-35. On Saturday the Mustangs played Kaneland and suffered a close 48-47 loss. The girls will play two away games this week on Tuesday at Dekalb and Friday at Larkin.

Boys’ Basketball (Nate Burleyson)

The varsity team faced a true road game against Glenbard West this past Wednesday and fell by a big margin. They then played Naperville Central on Friday, winning 67-41. They face East Aurora tomorrow and Willowbrook this Friday. Both games will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. at home.

Hockey (Nate Burleyson)

The varsity team played Glenbrook North on Saturday in a rematch of a preseason game. They fell 2-0. They will play Lyons Township, DHS, Oswego, and OPRF this week.

Wrestling (Nate Burleyson)

The varsity squad lost to Naperville Central last Friday and also competed in the Niles West quad. This weekend, they are competing in the Maine South Quad meet.

Boys Swim and Dive (Leland Pan)

The boys started off their season with a finish of 5th place at the Stevenson Relay meet on Saturday. The Mustangs head to Naperville Central High School on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Special Olympics (Leland Pan)

The team started off their first basketball game on Thursday at home, falling short against Waubonsie. The Mustangs play again on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Bowling (Madison McCalley)

Last week on Monday, the Mustangs’ first match of the season was canceled due to the snow day. Varsity played at the Willowbrook Quad on Tuesday. Varsity took home a win over Addison but fell against Willowbrook and Morton. Senior Niya Blowe and junior Alicia Anton led the Mustangs with a 519 and 536 series. On Saturday, varsity placed 8th out of 16 at the Jefferson Jayhawk Invite. Junior Alicia Anton won a medal for her 9th place score of the match. Their next match is against Fenton on Monday and another match on Thursday against Naperville Central.

Cheerleading (Madison McCalley)

On Sunday, Varsity had their first competition of the season at Carl Sandburg High School. The Mustangs took 3rd place. Their next competition is the Belvedere North Coed Challenge on December 14.
