Weekly Sports Update: 1/14 – 1/19

Girls’ Basketball (Leland Pan)
The Mustangs started off their week playing against Oswego East last Tuesday. The girls lost to the wolves 35-20. The Mustangs then played against Romeoville this past weekend. The Mustangs head to the home court at 7:15 p.m. tonight against the Waubonsie Valley Warriors.
Boys’ Basketball (Nate Burleyson)
The varsity team lost to Waukegan last Tuesday, 83-80. On Thursday they fell to Downers Grove South 52-48. At Geneva High School on Monday, they competed in the Martin Luther King Jr. invite against Libertyville losing 52-51. They play Naperville Central at home on Friday, hoping to get out of their slump.
Hockey (Nate Burleyson)
The Hockey team played Maine on Saturday, winning 5-3. They also beat Neuqua 5-2 and lost 6-3 to Hinsdale Central. This weekend they play Dupage and Neuqua.
Wrestling (Nate Burleyson)
The wrestling team had their final home meet this Friday against Neuqua. They will compete in the DVC championships on Saturday.
Boys Swim and Dive (Leland Pan)
The Mustangs started off their week with Senior Night against the Neuqua Valley Wildcats. Last Friday the boys took home multiple wins from the Downers Grove North Trojan Invite. Swimming the 200 varsity relay: Cronin, Kastan, Gamilla, and Martinson placed fourth. Fresh/Soph 200 medley relay team Leslie, Damhorst, Edwards, and Mends placed fifth. Gamilla, Hines, Wang, and Kastan place fourth in the varsity 200 free relay. Leslie, Edwards, Damhorst, and Henkel place fourth in the fresh/soph 400 free relay. Martinson, Lafferty, Wang, and Kastan place third in varsity 400 free relay. And ending on a high note, fresh/soph took home fourth place overall and varsity took home third place plaque overall. The boys continue their success into Thursday at Waubonsie Valley High School against at 4:30 p.m.
Bowling (Madison McCalley)
Last week, the Mustangs had the DVC Conference tournament. Although they placed second, the girls had enough points throughout the season to become the DVC Conference champions for the first time. Their next match is this Thursday at Fox Bowl.
Gymnastics (Madison McCalley)
This past week, the Mustangs had a meet at Naperville North on Thursday and they competed against Naperville North. Varsity got a new high score of 135.9. Their next meet is a DVC Conference this Thursday.
Cheerleading (Madison McCalley)
Last Tuesday, the Mustangs had the DVC Conference championship at Neuqua. Varsity placed third. On Sunday, the Mustangs performed at the Huntley Invite. Varsity placed seventh. Next week, they have the ISHA Sectionals.
