Weekly Sports Update 8/24-8/30

Boys’ Cross Country (Max Berglind)
Senior Ben Lamsma (16:47) and sophomore Rameez Abrar (17:17) led the boys at Waubonsie this past Saturday . Their next meet is at Katherine Legge Park in Hinsdale this Saturday.
Boys’ Golf (Max Berglind)
The boys’ golf team finished in second place in the Oswego Partner Scramble on Tuesday. They then faced Waubonsie this past Wednesday, and took home a victory with a final score of 150-152. Senior Aman Shah scored a 35 and junior Patrick McGrath chipped in a birdie to finish with a score of 38. They have an invite and then a few matches against Neuqua, Central, North, and Fenton coming up this week.
Girls’ Cross Country (Grace Davidson)
The girls started their season off by attending the Aurora City Meet. Senior Keeley Behr placed third in the three mile run with a time of 19:56. The meet was cut short due to a heat advisory. They will attend the Hornet Red Devil Invite this Saturday.
Boys’ Football (Grace Davidson)
The boys’ football team competed against Geneva at Mustang Stadium this past Friday. The Mustangs fell short during their first match-up of the season, losing 20-15. The team’s next game is another home match against Lockport. The theme for the game this Friday is gold out.
Girls’ Golf (Grace Davidson)
The team played against Plainfield North and against Neuqua on Monday and Tuesday. The girls attended the Aurora City Invite on Wednesday. They pulled out the first win in Mustang history at the invite with the highest score being an 80 strokes by junior Abby Terada placing third with a score of 80. The team went on to win against North the next day with a final score of 168-176. The Mustangs won their second invite in a row at the Antioch Invite against 15 other teams on Saturday.
Girls’ Swim and Dive (Grace Davidson)
The girls’ diving team traveled to the Neuqua Invite on Friday and Saturday. This upcoming Friday they have a home meet against Benet Academy.
Boys’ Soccer (Grace Davidson)
The boys’ soccer team beat Leyden 4-1 in the St. Charles Tournament. Today, they face St. Charles in the tournament and they will go up against Downers Grove on Thursday. They have another game in the tournament on Saturday.
Girls’ Tennis (Grace Cronin)
The season started for the girls’ tennis team with a quad meet against Oswego High School, Wheaton Academy, and Benet this Saturday. The girls started off strong winning against Wheaton in their first match and Owego in their second, however losing to Benet. They will continue their season with a game against Geneva this Wednesday.
Girls’ Volleyball (Grace Cronin)
The girls started their season off with a win against Glenbard East. They won their first set 25-16 and their second 25-13. They continued their winning streak taking first at the Metea Valley/Oswego East tournament. Their next match will be against Oswego East on Tuesday.
