Calling all Criminal Minds junkies! Despite the two-year pause from a fan favorite crime drama series, according to TV Guide, On Sept.  21 Paramount+ will be rebooting the film. The premiere of the first two episodes is available on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022.

For those who have never watched an episode of the 15-season-long series, the TV show revolves around an elite group of criminal profilers. These people are a part of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). which are fundamental elements of the FBI. The team’s end goal is to find the unsub (Unknown Subjects). They do this through behavioral analysis and profiling to help investigate crimes and find the suspect.

Despite the majority of the original cast returning, including Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, A.J. Cook as JJ, Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis, and many more. Despite this, many people are sad about the absence of Matthew Gray Gubler, otherwise known as a criminal profiler, Dr. Spencer Reid. Yet, a new addition to the show will be Zach Gilford as Elias Voit, best known for his role in the American drama series Friday Night Lights.

The new addition to the series will premiere solely on Paramount+ as well as adding on to the established name of Criminal Minds to Criminal Minds: Evolution. The new season will be about a significant threat, Zach Gilford, who took advantage of the pandemic to create strong correlations between other serial killers. This causes the BAU team to have to hunt down each murder at a time, all while the world around them is starting to unlock their doors.

Instead of the new season having a different crime each episode, Paramount+´s revival of the show is going to be about one big case. This change will make the new season a distinct experience with an ongoing mystery while watching.

After that, each Thursday after the premiere a new episode will be available until the mid-season finale which will take place on Dec. 12. Following that, the season will resume on Jan. 12 with the same schedule until the finale on Feb. 9. Show-runner, executive producer and writer Erica Messer voiced her opinion over the pause of the series to reporters during the Television Critics Tour.

“We never wanted to go away, to begin with. We knew there were plenty of stories to tell,” Messer said. “You can feel behind the scenes that a show is lagging, or creatively the scripts are not hitting. That never happened to us.”
