Granger put on lock down in response to suspicious trespasser

Granger students and staff went into a lockdown yesterday at 8:00 a.m.  Aurora Police Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person, identified as 20-year-old Brandt Ward of Aurora, trespassing on school grounds.

The school proceeded into the ALICE practice to ensure the safety of students and staff.  

School staff encountered the suspect close to a school entrance and called the police.  When police arrived, he was placed under arrest and charged with one count of criminal trespass to a safe school zone and one count of disorderly conduct (actions alarm or disturb another provoking breach of peace), according to a Aurora Police Department News Release

During the time of arrest, Ward, a former Metea Valley student, was unarmed with no weapons on hand. No injuries were reported.
