Metea L.I.F.E Abroad allowed students to travel around Europe this past summer. This program gives students the chance to explore different social experiences in various locations.
France was the first trip of the summer for the Metea L.I.F.E Abroad program. During the ten-day France trip, teachers took students to a variety of events to learn more about their historical, cultural, and social backgrounds. English teacher Rachel Bostick attended the 80th anniversary of the D-Day ceremony.
“It was the 80th anniversary of when the Allied forces stormed the Normandy beaches. And so we could go to the ceremony that had about 100 veterans,” Bostick said. “We were able to listen to President Biden and the President of France Emmanuel Macron also spoke, so it was an incredible experience to be able to memorialize those who died.”
Current sophomore Lakshanya Lakkshminarayanan elaborated on her experience about traveling to France with the program.
“One of my favorite memories would be going on the cruise to see the Eiffel Tower shimmer. So, we went with EF Tours, and they booked us a lot of fun things to do including the cruise, and we went back and forth down the river, and around 11, we got to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle, and it was really nice,” Lakkshminarayanan said.
This program is all-inclusive and encourages seniors who are about to graduate along with current students to visit different places around the world with their peers. Recent graduate Cael Morrow traveled to Iceland and Berlin and explained how the trip is beneficial in working with others.
“When you’re in a travel situation that’s new to everyone, it doesn’t matter where you came from or how old you are, you all work together to make the trip as fun as possible and to get to know each other. There’s always new perspectives to gain,” Morrow said.
Metea L.I.F.E Abroad will be traveling in 2025 to Rome, Greece, and Peru. If a student is interested in going they can contact [email protected] for more information.
