Due to technology issues, the beginning of Metea’s weekly Mustang 30 session has been pushed back a few more weeks, and students are eagerly waiting for the sessions to be established.
Mustang 30 for the 2024-2025 school year should have started already. However, the company that now runs Edfiency, the website used to sign up for M30 sessions, is experiencing technology problems on their end.
M30 is a time for students to catch up on work, retake tests, talk to teachers, or just relax. However, since the start of this school year, students have been spending an extra 20 minutes in their second-period classes doing other activities, such as lessons on AI and, last week, a fire drill.
Many students prefer M30 over extra time in second period. Few feel as though the content is actually helpful due to the amount of information people already have on AI. The majority of students miss Mustang 30 and the time that is set aside for them to be productive every Wednesday.
Many students would go to either the library or a teacher’s classroom during Mustang 30.
“I enjoyed having the chance to ask questions and get help from teachers outside of class,” one student said. Many students believe that it is very helpful to have time set aside to study and get extra help from teachers.
Band students, such as Junior Nora Davidson, used past year’s Mustang 30 times to practice.
“I usually go to band during Mustang 30 because then I don’t have to worry about scheduling time to practice after school,” Davidson said.
M30 was also used by students to take a break from their busy schedules. Mustang 30 usually provides a variety of non-academic activities, such as playing sports in the gym, or meditation in the health classes. Now, many students are feeling as though they are missing out on opportunities like these to relax and de-stress.
As the school year picks up, students will need M30 once the technology issues are sorted out.
