Welcome back! It’s been awhile, although it certainly doesn’t feel like it has been almost three months, does it? Summer has a weird way of making it seem a lot quicker than it really was – school kind of has that effect as well. Before you laugh it off, hear me out – this year probably is going to feel awfully slow in the midst of everything going on, but when you look back in May, it’ll seem awfully short and extremely fast.
Our job, however, is to walk with you this year, enjoying the moment, but making sure it isn’t forgotten. We vow to do that job well. Trust us, especially the seniors, (wow that feels weird to say), you’re going to need help remembering everything that’s going to happen this year – it’s going to seem like a blur.
But don’t worry, that’s why we’re here. Allow us to introduce ourselves – we’re a group of students that make up The Stampede, our school’s newspaper and media publication. Every month you’ll be hearing from us in the form of a print issue of our newspaper, but you’ll be hearing from us every single day in lots of other ways.
This year, we won’t just be documenting Metea LIFE in the papers – we’ll be documenting it almost daily on our new and improved website, and we’ll be updating you daily from our Twitter (@MV_Stampede), Instagram (@MV_Stampede), Stampede Facebook page, and yes, even Snapchat (MVstampede). Yes, we did make that awesome Snapchat filter.
We’re already seeing changes, especially with our athletics, which you’ll be able to preview at Mustang Mania this Friday. We recently made the move into the Dupage Valley Conference, and you can catch our first ever football game in the division against rival Neuqua Valley on Aug. 28 at Mustang Stadium. Between the homecoming dance, the powderpuff game, and all the clubs we have available, there is certainly a lot to to be excited about this fall.
So get ready – it’s going to be a crazy year. I hope you’ll catch all the highlights from us, The Stampede. Enjoy the 2015-16 school year, Mustangs.
Sincerely,
The Stampede
