The Mustangs won their regional semifinal game in penalty kicks against the Marmion Academy Cadets. Senior goalkeeper Patrick Maroney led the team to victory, stopping three of four penalty kicks. The score was tied at 2-2 at the end of regular time. The back-and-forth action continued into extra time with both teams scoring, tying the game at 3-3 until the final whistle, sending the game to a penalty kick shootout. The heroic actions performed by Maroney helped the Mustangs advance to the regional final against Plainfield Central on Friday, 6 pm at Marmion.
