Starting the 2025-2026 school year, Metea will offer new elective courses to give students more opportunities to explore unique interests. During the current course selection process, students can now choose from Criminal Law, World History through Media, Peer Partner Adaptive Art, and Sports Medicine 2. Additionally, Construction 2 will also be available in the 2026-2027 school year.
“There are not many classes like [the new courses], and they would be a fun way to get some credits,” Junior Audrey McLean said.
Many of these newly added electives are also based on existing courses that have been continuously popular with students in the past. Sports Medicine 2, a semester class, is a continuation of the current semester Sports Medicine class, which aims to teach students about injury prevention, identification, and rehabilitation. Sports Medicine 1 and 2 is offered as a substitute to traditional PE classes. Peer Partners Adaptive Art, which builds on the success of Peer Partners PE, offers participants a creative and meaningful way to connect with their peers.
“I personally like Peer Partners Art,” McLean said. “I am in Peer Partners [PE], and if I could do more classes like it, I would.”
Regardless of which course topic interests them, Metea students can choose from a wide range of electives designed to drive exploration and active engagement.
“Adding courses like these allow students to prepare for future careers as we support them through this important journey,” school Counselor said.
The course selection process is currently underway for the upcoming school year as students weigh the many core and elective classes they can pick between. Students with any questions regarding either the course selection process or any new courses are encouraged to contact their respective guidance counselor for personalized assistance.
