Recently, artist Justin Bieber released a comeback album after almost three years of silence. “Purpose”, the name of the album, holds 18 songs including the singles, “What Do You Mean” and “Where Are U Now”. It is the fastest album in history to get one billion streams, so needless to say, the Bieber fever has stricken us yet again. From the perspective of a day 1 Belieber, here is my attempt at an unbiased review of this album.
“Mark My Words”
This is the shortest song on the album, and it has a slower tempo than most. It has the same background music throughout the song, but Bieber’s lyrics about rekindling love and regaining trust give the song meaning. Not to mention his voice is angelic throughout the entire song. And he seems so genuine considering he wrote this for Selena. A chill-worthy song for sure.

“I’ll Show You”
In this song, Bieber talks about the pressure that is on him as a celebrity and how he is treated as if he doesn’t have the same feelings as everyone else. His message in the song is that he will show everyone the true person that he really is. It has a good beat too it, especially in the chorus. It really makes you feel bad for the poor guy, like he’s just trying to live his life. But then he hits you with the “I’ll Show You” in the chorus, referring to the fact that he will prove his true self to the press, and you have hope for him again.

“What Do You Mean”
This was the second song released on the album, and received plenty of recognition on the radio and in the media. It’s an upbeat song with a catchy lyrics that make you wanna sing along. This is definitely a song that everyone can dance too, and even boys who claim to not like him, love this song.

“Sorry”
This is the best song on the album… by far the most fun song on the album. Really upbeat with a dancey beat in the background. The lyrics are catchy as Bieber is asking for forgiveness in a lighter manner. This is the song that you’ll get caught dancing in your car too, it kinda makes you wanna remake his music video for this song.

“Love Yourself”
This song just has a guitar background and a slower tempo but still not a slow song. Bieber talks about getting over a girl who wronged him and and telling her to love herself rather than having the privilege of his affection. It has likeable lyrics such as, “My momma don’t like you and she likes everyone,” it’s a perfect getting over you jam. This is a song that you can sing along too while remembering someone that did you wrong and then forgetting about them while getting lost in his voice.

“Company”
This song builds during the verses up into the beat after the chorus and leaves the listener with a nice rhythm to dance to. Although he doesn’t use his angelic high notes in this song, the lower tone still carries nice effect, and it almost feels like he’s singing right too you, so that’s not bad either.

“No Pressure”
With Big Sean featured in the song, it has more of a slow, R&B sound to it. Pretty repetitive chorus, but it flows well with the other lyrics. It also shows that Bieber has some perseverance and lots of patience. It’s somewhat comforting to listen to, almost reassuring and with the addition of a verse by Big Sean it pulls the song all together.

“No Sense”
Rapper Travis Scott is featured in this song and it sounds more like a rap song more than his usual pop sound, however it works, especially because he isn’t trying to actually rap. It’s different from the other songs and has a unique beat in the background, it sounds like he’s maturing from the lovey dovey songs to more of a serious perspective on relationships. Plus he hits some high notes, which is always a great addition.

“The Feeling”
From the start, the song takes more of a serious tone which is paired with a lighter tempo during the chorus. Halsey, the artist featured on the song, also spices up the chorus with her soft voice. However, it’s not the most relatable song and it almost sounds like a song that would be on “My World 2.0”. (That isn’t bad either, considering that was the album that sparked my love for Justin and was my jam throughout my entire middle school career.)

“Life Is Worth Living”
One of the slow and meaningful songs on the album. The piano accompany to the uplifting lyrics makes it a beautiful song, along with his angel voice. Definitely one to send chills through your body.

“Where Are You Now”
This was the first song released on the album and it gained a lot of popularity right after it was dropped. Featuring Skrillex and Diplo, it has slower verses that lead into an electronic drop, which make it so difficult not to throw in a classic fist bump when you hear it on the dance floor. It’s a perfect combination of EDM and Justin Bieber, two amazing things put together to make a perfect song.

“Children”
This song has a really good message and portrays it in a fun, electronic, high tempo song with another drop after the chorus. Another song that you’ll probably need to blast in your car, as a pump up. And it’s great because it pumps you up about a good message, helping children. Although I’m confused on why he would pair this message with the beat, it is still an amazing song.

“Purpose”
Bieber really digs deep in this song, it’s slow tempoed and solely accompanied by a piano. The message in it is really amazing and slow vocals make it even better. This is a perfect song to play during a romance scene in a movie, it’s one of those happy love songs that will still make you cry. Plus his perfect voice.

“Been You”
This one is another fun, high tempo song. It has a very pop-like sound and it’s perfect to dance along too, although it has kind of some sad lyrics about wanting to start over, the tone of the song covers it up and makes it a fun and happy song.
Rating: 9/10
Belieber Rating: 150/10
“Get Used To It”
This one is also upbeat throughout the entire song and is a really happy song considering it refers to someone fully committing and loving another person. One of the better ones especially because you can picture him singing it to you and who wouldn’t want that? This is a song you can definitely put on replay.

Belieber Rating: 99/10
“We Are”
Another song that has somewhat of a R&B sound to it, with rapper Nas featured in it. It’s medium tempoed, and possesses some heavenly vocals in it. A song that you can rock and chill to, it’s the perfect mixture, although it doesn’t stand out like some of the other tracks on the album.
Rating: 6/10
Belieber Rating: 10/10
“Trust”
Starting off with a medium tempo and a good backbeat the song has good rhythm to it. It’s another song that has an R&B sound to it and draws you in with yet another perfect set of lyrics and vocals. And it has that effect that he’s singing directly towards you again that can cause chills.
Rating: 8/10
Belieber Rating: 10/10
“All In It”
This is another slow song with a really good message about putting your all into everything you do. It has the classic JB sound to it that’s comforting and even features a little message at the end where Bieber brings his religion into play and just gives some words of wisdom, which makes you respect him that much more. However, some do find it a bit uncomfortable at the end, still a great track.
