Weekly Sports Update 9/4-9/9

Football (Kellie Foy)

The varsity football team lost to Naperville Central, 56-7. The football unit plays at Wheaton North this week.

 

Girls’ Golf (Kellie Foy)

The girls golf team had only practices last week. The team has a tournament on Monday at Waubonsie. The team also has a tournament on Wednesday at Lake Park. The team has a tournament on Thursday at home against Glenbard North.

 

Girls Volleyball (Kellie Foy)

The girls varsity volleyball team defeated Hinsdale South, winning both sets 25-13. The JV, sophomore, and freshman teams also beat Hinsdale South. The Freshman B team finished third in silver at the Plainfield East Invite this weekend. The Freshman A team finished sixth place overall at the Naperville North Invite this weekend. The volleyball unit’s next match is the Dig Pink and first conference game against Neuqua Valley on Tuesday.

 

Girls’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

The girls’ cross country team traveled to Peoria for the First to the Finish Invitational last Saturday. Varsity ran well and placed 17th overall with seniors Kate Jordan and Keely Weber leading the pack. JV placed 23rd and overall both teams showed improvement. The team is hosting the run-a-thon at home next Saturday.

 

Boys’ XC (Myra Bajwa)

The boys’ varsity cross country team finished 30th out of 47 at the First to the Finish Invitational in Peoria on Saturday with senior Ralph Papa coming in 49th with a time of 15:40.4. JV finished 21st, with sophomore Ryan Schlesinger running a time of 18:01.9. Boys’ cross country is gearing up for the run-a-thon next Saturday at home.

 

Girls’ Swim (Myra Bajwa)

Girls’ swim and dive competed at the Neuqua Valley Invite this Friday and Saturday. Mckenna Stone broke meet and school records in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.07 and broke another meet record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.34. The team is practicing hard for their next meet this Thursday at Naperville North.

 

Boys’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)

The varsity soccer team defeated Neuqua Valley 3-0 last Tuesday. They held their own in a 3-1 loss against Naperville North, a matchup they lost 4-2 last year. Earlier in the week, Coach Robinson collected jackets to donate at the Pepsico Showdown, an annual soccer tournament and charity event. The team lost their first elimination game to Crystal Lake South after going to penalty kicks.

 

Boys’ Golf (Tyler Burleyson)

The team was defeated in their match against Lake Park last Thursday, September 6th. After their weekend off, the varsity team is gearing up for a big week with 3 days in a row of matches. They face off against Wheaton Warrenville South on Tuesday before the Aurora City invite on Wednesday, then turn around for a match with Glenbard North.
