Weekly Sports Update 4/9-4/14

Girls’ Badminton (Tyler Burleyson)

The girls were victorious at their own invite last Friday, winning the event with all girls placing top three.

Boys’ Tennis (Tyler Burleyson)

The team won their meet with St. Charles North, but lost to both DVC rivals Naperville North and Neuqua Valley.

Girls’ Soccer (Tyler Burleyson)

Varsity lost 4-2 against Wheaton Warrenville South in the PepsiCo Showdown tournament last Tuesday, followed by another loss in the tournament 3-1 against Wheaton Academy. Senior Lauren Wesoloski signed to Elmhurst College on Wednesday’s signing day.

Boys’ Track (Tyler Burleyson)

The Metea Valley invite last week was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Baseball (Myra Bajwa)

Varsity beat Naperville North 16-5 on Tuesday and lost 6-11 to Neuqua. The team also played Naperville Central on Friday, losing 1-4. Next week, the boys play Naperville Central, Neuqua, Naperville North, and Wheaton North.

Softball (Myra Bajwa)

Varsity beat Naperville North 7-2 on Wednesday and fell 0-5 to Naperville Central on Thursday. JV lost to Naperville North but beat Naperville Central 7-3. Both teams played against Neuqua on Friday. Next week, the team plays against Wheaton North, Hinsdale Central, Waubonsie, Glenbard East, and Lake Park.

Girls’ Track (Myra Bajwa)

The team hosted Waubonsie and Neuqua at home on Wednesday. Nethra Naresh and Katerra Bowman both jumped personal bests in the long jump and Laurel Roney came in first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:34. On Friday, the girls traveled to Minooka for the Minooka Invite. Next week, the team hosts Glenbard North and Wheaton North at home on Monday and competes against Neuqua on Friday.

Ultimate Frisbee (Myra Bajwa)

Last Wednesday, the varsity team beat Neuqua Bravo 13-0 and St. Charles East 13-4. JV1 won both of its games and JV2 lost its first game 4-11 and won its second game 9-8.

Boys’ Volleyball (Nate Burleyson)

On Tuesday the Boys’ Volleyball team opened their conference play. They took on Neuqua Valley at home. They won 2-0 in sets of 25-22 and 28-26, respectively. The team faces Naperville North on Tuesday as they look to continue their conference season.

Boys’ Water Polo (Nate Burleyson)

Boys’ Water Polo went 1-1 last week, they fell to Naperville North and beat Oak Park-River Forest. They play Naperville Central on Tuesday and they are participating in the Valley Varsity tournament this weekend, alongside the girls’ team.

Girls’ Water Polo (Nate Burleyson)

The Varsity team took first place at the Fremd tournament. JV lost to Naperville North, Frosh/Soph and JV beat Fremd. This week the teams play Naperville Central and the Varsity is participating in a Co-Ed tournament next weekend.

Rugby (Connor Smith)

The D2 High School Boys had a successful victory Thursday night, defeating Crystal Lake 36-5 at home, improving their record to 2-0 in league play. Additionally, the D3 High School Boys gained a 44-19 win over the All Reds in Washington, IL. this past Saturday.

Special Olympics (Connor Smith)

Special Olympics continued to hold track and field practices this past week in preparation for the “Spring Games” tournament on Sunday, April 29.

Boys’ Lacrosse (Connor Smith)

Boys’ Lacrosse finished the week with a 1-2 record, losing 4-16 to both Neuqua and South Elgin, but gained a 15-4 win over Plainfield.
