Weekly Sports Update 1/21 – 1/26

Girls’ Basketball (Leland Pan)

The girls pushed through this week against Waubonsie Valley High School game that was pushed to Friday due to inclimate weather. The final score was Metea 41 Waubonsie 55. Saturday the girls fell short to the Naperville Central High School Redhawks. The final score was Mustangs 28 Redhawks 42. The Mustangs celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday against Oswego at 7 p.m.

Boys’ Basketball (Nate Burleyson)

The varsity team lost to Naperville Central on Friday, 57-55. They play Neuqua tomorrow night away.

Hockey (Nate Burleyson)

The Hockey team played DuPage last Saturday, winning 6-1. On Sunday their game against Neuqua was called due to injuries sustained during the game. They will resume play tonight.

Wrestling (Nate Burleyson)

The wrestling team competed in the DVC championships on Saturday. Junior Josh Labarbera and senior Phillip Sims won their weight classes.

Boys Swim and Dive (Leland Pan)

The Mustangs swam against Waubonsie Valley last Tuesday at home, celebrating their Senior Night. The boys on Friday and Saturday hosted the Mustang Invite to wrap up their meets this season. This week, the boys dive into the Dupage Valley Conference held at Metea on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Special Olympics (Leland Pan)

The Unified Dance team took a major victory at State, placing 2nd overall. The Traditional and Unified teams will set out on the court against the Metea teachers on Wednesday for Pack the Stands at 6 p.m.

Bowling (Madison McCalley)

Last week, the Mustangs started out the week with a match on Monday against Libertyville. On Thursday, the Mustangs took on Willowbrook High School for senior night. Varsity fell to Willowbrook. On Saturday, the Mustangs played at the Leyden Invite. Varsity placed fourth overall in the tournament. Their next match is this Tuesday at Plainfield Central.

Gymnastics (Madison McCalley)

This past Thursday, the Mustangs had the DVC championship meet. Varsity placed second. Junior Thalia Bowen placed second on vault. Junior Thera Bowen placed fourth on bars, vault, and floor and she placed 5th overall. Their next meet is Monday, Feb. 4 at Hinsdale Central.

Cheerleading (Madison McCalley)

This past Saturday, the Mustangs had ISHA Sectionals. Varsity placed fourth in the competition and the Mustangs are going to state.
