Weekly Sports Update: 2/11 – 2/15

Girls’ Basketball (Leland Pan)

The varsity team headed into the IHSA Regional week starting off against Romeoville last Tuesday. The Mustangs defeated Romeoville 50-24. Moving on to Thursday’s game against Oswego High School, the Mustangs fell short and wrapped up their season.

Boys’ Basketball (Nate Burleyson)

The varsity team beat Nazareth on Tuesday 50-44. They fell to Neuqua on senior night 72-70. They also lost to West Aurora 85-66 on Saturday.

Hockey (Nate Burleyson)

The Hockey team continued their postseason this weekend, beating Hinsdale in a three-game series. They play Maine in game 1 of their conference championship on Friday.

Wrestling (Nate Burleyson)

The wrestling team competed in the IHSA State tournament last weekend. Junior Josh Labarbera lost in the blood round and senior Phillip Sims placed third overall in the 145-pound division.

Boys Swim and Dive (Leland Pan)

The Mustangs headed to sectionals this past Saturday at Neuqua Valley. Qualifying for both the 200 medley and free relay, swimmers Sam Kastan, Jeddrick Gamilla, Austin Martinson, and George Wang are headed to IHSA State. Individually, Kastan qualifies in the 50 free and Gamilla qualifies in the 100 breast. The boys head to IHSA State Prelims on Friday in Evanston at 3 p.m.

Boys Track and Field (Madison McCalley)

The Mustangs had a meet on Saturday at the Greg Foster Invitational. Junior Brian Griffin placed 3rd in the 600 meter run. Senior Michael Varzino placed 1st in the 1600 meter run. Their next meet is this Friday in Romeoville.

Girls Track and Field (Madison McCalley)

The Mustangs had a meet on Saturday at Wheaton Warrenville South. Junior Yanylia Doby led the Mustangs placing 9th in the 55-meter dash. Sophomore Natalie Weisman placed 9th in the 800-meter run. Junior Emily Kohlberg placed 9th in the 1600 meter run. Their next meet is this Saturday at Hinsdale Central.

Bowling (Madison McCalley)

Last week, junior Alicia Anton and sophomore Meredith Olef represented the Mustangs at the IHSA State tournament. They finished their season placing 111th and 112th.

Gymnastics (Madison McCalley)

Last week, junior Thalia Bowen represented the Mustangs at the IHSA State competition. Thalia finished the season scoring a 9.3 on vault.
