Weekly Sports Update 10/21-10/27

Girls’ Cross Country (Alex Bedore)

The girls’ cross country team competed in the IHSA Regionals at Oswego East High School. Two girls finished in the top 20 of all the runners. The Mustangs ended up in a fifth-place as a team out of nine teams.

Boys’ Cross Country (Tyler Perry)

The boys’ cross country team competed in the IHSA Regionals at Oswego East High School last Saturday. Junior Mamadu Diallo qualified to take part in next week’s meet.

Boys’ Football (Alex Bedore)

The football team played their last game of the season against Neuqua Valley last Friday. The game was played at home and it was senior night for Metea. The Mustangs lost to the Wildcats, 20-41.

Boys’ Soccer (Jose Collado)

The Mustangs hosted IHSA Regionals last Wednesday against Neuqua Valley. The boys won 3-0 and came back for the IHSA Regional Championship. They came short against West Aurora by three goals.

Girls’ Swim and Dive (Elena Buscher)

The girls celebrated Senior Night against Waubonsie Valley last Thursday. The Mustangs hosted the Varsity Mustang Invite over the weekend. They will compete in the DuPage Valley Conference at Naperville North on Friday.

Girls’ Tennis (Leland Pan)

Junior Meera Baid and seniors Taylor Goldman and Isabella Palm headed to IHSA State last Thursday. Baid went 3-2 in singles, Goldman and Palm went 3-2. The girls’ combined points set them up for a fifth place in the state.

Girls’ Volleyball (Elena Buscher)

The Mustangs started the week off against Neuqua Valley on Tuesday, losing in two sets. They then played Waubonsie on Thursday, losing in two sets. Their next match is the regional tournament on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Naperville North High School.
