Metea welcomes class of ‘30

Metea’s halls were full of curiosity and excitement as eighth graders poured in for eighth-grade night, an annual event designed to give future mustangs a glimpse of what awaits them for the next four years. From elective showcases to club tables and classroom tours, the night provided students with an opportunity to envision themselves as high schoolers.

Eighth graders and their families wandered through the campus, stopping to talk with teachers, explore academic departments, and learn about extracurricular opportunities. For students, the event can help turn the unknowns of high school into something more familiar and a lot less intimidating.

Eighth graders think a lot about what courses they want to take in high school, and the swirling crowds proved just that.

“I play the viola, and I want to continue in orchestra,” eighth grader Cara Tillman said.

By the end of the night, many students left with schedules in mind and nerves eased. Eighth-grade night is not just about picking classes, but also about helping future high school students take a confident step into the next chapter of their lives.
